1) Classic 4-4-2 formation
This is one of the oldest formations in football. The key to 4-4-2 is partnerships. This formation allows the front attackers to move forward without having to wait for support from the mid playing fielders. For this reason, the strikers who have ever played in a 4-4-2 formation are adaptable and able to defend a wide variety of on ground situations with least midfield support.

2) 4-3-3 formation
By playing two very advanced wide forwards you allow yourself to nullify the threat posed by an opponent's full-backs. So long as your wide forwards stay in, it becomes too risky for the full-backs to push up, thereby limiting attacking options against you.
Playing three players in midfield, one being a defensive position and the other two taking an all-round box-to-box role. This gives liberty to the full-backs getting forward and their midfield is going to keep possession long enough for them to join the attack without the threat of conceding counter-attacking opportunities.

3) 4-2-3-1 formation
Passing the ball through triangles formation is more effective and attacking ,breaking down the opponent than passing in straight lines, which is where 4-2-3-1 comes into play. The position of the central midfield two concerning more advanced three is custom built for the generation of these passing balls.
It's become difficult to over and over run in midfield with a 4-2-3-1 formation. There is much flexibility when the advanced players being able to drop into the central areas.Adding advantage, with so many players were available to pass the ball forwards and creating opportunity for the striker in this formation with plenty of chances to score goals.

4) 4-5-1 (+ 4-1-4-1) formation
Most of the players in the centre of the pitch adapt to the 4-5-1 formation and easily find themselves enjoying an enormous amount of possession.
The 4-5-1 formation is known as offensive strategy by pushing the two wide midfielders higher up the pitch closer to a 4-3-3 formation without making any substitutions or changes. Mostly you'll observe football teams deploying 4-3-3 at the start of a game, only to revert to a 4-5-1 as soon as they take the lead over the opponent.

5) 3-5-2 formation
The formation of 3-5-2 (defensive structure) is generated to stop the counter-attack.The three defenders in 3-5-2 formation should be able to defend and handle any combination of an opponent's strikers and the last player. While the wing-backs are well positioned to pierce or intercept the opponents wide players before they can forward their possession. However, the 3-5-2 is a launch pad for the counter-attack as it acts as a weapon against the opponents and maximum scoring chances .
